St. Rose Church  |  Meriden, CT

Overall Design Goals: The comprehensive refurbishment of this 11,000SF church entailed plan reconfigurations based on Vatican II guidelines to create greater proximity between celebrant and parishioners. A new narthex was created by installing a glass and wood mullion entry wall at the back of the nave.

Finishes: The project entailed full finish replacement, including the cleaning and refurbishment of the original vaulted ceiling, all walls, pews and organ. Historic decorative elements were restored throughout and a new oculus installed.

Liturgical Elements: All existing liturgical elements were restored and reconfigured per current design strategies. The former marble altars were disassembled and reassembled as new liturgical elements.

Structure: Much of the building’s superstructure had been destroyed by dry rot and termites and was replaced.

Electrical: New lighting and sound systems.

Historic preservations guidelines followed.
