Pre-K and Kindergarten Classroom and Media Center Building

• • Covered Walk connecting existing school to new, church and parking

In addition to providing classrooms and a media center, the program looks to create a vibrant campus by connecting the parish’s disparate administrative, religious and school facilities. This goal is achieved by connecting the existing facilities via the new Pre-K and Kindergarten classroom building at the center of the parish. In addition to its internal central corridor, the building’s covered, ground floor arcade functions as the connection between current campus and religious facilities. Current buildings include a mission church and more modern school buildings. The design for the classroom building seeks to maintain the design trajectory of the existing school buildings while making a connection to the adjacent existing church through choices in material, color and massing. Solar control strategies are employed in massing and façade design to lower heat gain.
