Church of the Holy Family | Hebron, CTThe project entails a new, 14,000SF, 450 seat church: including a generous narthex, sacristy and robbing, cry, and reconciliation rooms. An elevator takes parishioners to a lower level gathering hall which seats 240 at tables, a kitchen, coat room, and storage. The church’s placement on a slope allows for direct access off of grade to the worship space above and to the hall below. The church’s interior makes use of a flexible, open plan for both functional and budgetary reasons. A reinterpretation is made in elevation of the traditional colonial architectural vocabulary of a steeply pitched gable roof, white clapboard siding and narrow, vertical clear glass windows. In this manner, economical yet durable traditional construction methods are employed within an inspired modern interpretation. The parish was thus able to achieved it’s functional and aesthetic goals within its prescribed budget parameters. |
