Located on a steep wooded site on the border of the city, this project demanded that the units fit in context with the local, single family residential environment while maximizing density – achieved within tight budget parameters. Towards those ends, residential construction methods and a varying façade profile were employed to achieve an environs reminiscent of a lower density residential context. The Front porches and clapboard finishes enhance the effect. Besides fostering a residential scale on the exterior, the graining of the facades also promotes and privacy and varying views from the interior.
